Abby Wheat-Lusiak serves as Vice President of People and Culture for MiraVista Diagnostics, a family-owned specialty diagnostic laboratory founded by her father, Dr. Lawrence Joseph Wheat, drawing on nearly two decades with the organization. Since 2006, she has served as MiraVista’s Business Manager and Director, with a scope that has spanned human resources, facilities, accounts payable and receivable, marketing coordination, and the company’s relationships with its accounting, insurance, and legal partners, as well as IT liaison responsibilities. Before joining MiraVista, she worked as a licensed social worker at Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis, supporting patients and families in the pediatric endocrinology and burn units.
That combination of clinical, patient-facing experience and long-tenured operational leadership shapes Abby’s approach to people and culture at MiraVista. She focuses on employee experience, leadership communication, and the practical systems that keep a growing, family-owned company running smoothly, while preserving accountability, teamwork, and mission-driven culture that has defined MiraVista’s workplace for years.
She holds a Master of Social Work from Loyola University and a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from Indiana University. Her background in social work, advocacy, and employee support informs her people-centered leadership style and her focus on building a healthy, accountable, and collaborative workplace.
