Meet Andrew Hanzlicek, DVM, MS, DACVIM (SAIM), Director, Veterinary Medicine & Research
Andrew Hanzlicek, DVM, MS, DACVIM (SAIM), is a veterinary internal medicine specialist with more than 14 years of professional experience teaching, providing clinical services and conducting research in small animal internal medicine. As Veterinary Services Director he oversees veterinary consultation, veterinary research studies, and provides strategic leadership to expand our menu of veterinary services and products.
His professional experience, most recently, includes serving for 4 years as the Joan Kirkpatrick Chair of Small Animal Medicine and director of the residency training program of Small Animal Internal Medicine at Oklahoma State University. He has lectured in the pre-clinical curriculum at multiple veterinary colleges and has provided continuing veterinary education around the world- discussing diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of small animal disease.
As supervisor of the Bioscience Research Laboratory, he has conducted research in the areas of infectious disease, hematology, and whole blood coagulation and has over 40 publications to his credit. As a primary investigator and collaborator, he has received over one million dollars in grant funded research and has a strong interest in researching invasive fungal infections and has over 15 publications directly related to endemic fungal infections.
Dr. Hanzlicek earned a BS in Agriculture, MS in Biomedical Sciences, and DVM degrees from Kansas State University. He completed post-graduate clinical training at Texas A&M University and Kansas State University. He is an active member of professional societies including American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, American Veterinary Medical Association, Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association, Association of Veterinary Hematology and Transfusion Medicine, Veterinary Interventional Radiology and Interventional Endoscopy Society, International Society for Human and Animal Mycology, and International Society for Companion Animal Infectious Diseases.
