Research and Development Associate

Summary of Responsibilities

As a Research and Development Associate the employee will be integral to the development, validation, and implementation of new clinical assays, laboratory developed tests (LDTs), and in vitro diagnostics (IVDs) to aid in the diagnosis of infections diseases.

Job Type: Full-time,  Day Shift: Monday-Friday, Exempt

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Be a strong individual contributor as well as a collaborative team member.
  • Develop and optimize reagents for new assays for both LDT’s and IVD products.
  • Identify, evaluate, plan and execute studies leading to new, robust assays.
  • Write protocols, reports and present results and project assessments.
  • Troubleshoot and support existing assays.
  • Plan and manage research and development tasks and timelines.


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.

  • Solid understanding of immunology and assay development.
  • Prior product development of IVD’s experience preferred.
  • High-level ability to analyze and interpret scientific data.
  • Experience in an GMP environment highly desirable.
  • Excellent attention to details.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

Education and Experience

  • B .S. degree in biology, chemistry, immunology or related field with 8 years’ experience or M.S. degree with 3 years’ experience in research or industry.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills are required as well as demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
