Summary of Responsibilities

The Senior Scientist will guide the development, validation and implementation of new assays and have responsibility for internal and external technical consultation, method selection and validation of new products..

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Guide the development, validation and implementation of new assays.
• Provide input for new test validation commitments. Establish and keep validation commitment dates.
• Plan and prioritize work activities for self and direct reports; use time efficiently and develop realistic action plans.
• Provide technical guidance for all departmental issues.
• Documentation of all activities performed according to SOPs. Preparation of documents including, but not limited to SOP, assay development reports, assay qualification/validation protocols, assay qualification/validation summary reports
• Responsible for the day-to-day management of funded projects including project design and proposal preparation through execution of the planned project activities.
• High level ability to analyze scientific data, assist in preparations of GMP/QSR documents related to product manufacturing and quality assurance, publications, SOP’s, MSDS, etc
• Other tasks as assigned..

Qualifications

Education

• PhD in Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years of product development experience.
• MS in Life Sciences, Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Virology or equivalent with 5 years of experience in a research environment including 3+  years of experience in product development with an IVD or Clinical Laboratory.

Skills, Specialized Knowledge and Abilities

• • Ability and experience to plan and perform DOE (design of experiments).
  • Ability to make data driven conclusions.
